Robert Reeg

FDNY

Robert Reeg is a retired FDNY firefighter who served as a responder with FDNY Engine 44 on 9/11. As he approached the World Trade Center on foot, Robert saw the South Tower start to collapse. The gust of air from the falling tower threw him into the air, and a piece of flying debris shattered his back and caused his ribs to puncture his lungs.

After numerous operations, Robert—who had been considered missing—reconnected with his wife and kids, and ultimately recovered.
